Glares can spoil a good scan. Here’s how to avoid them:
1. Use the right lighting and angle
- Try changing the lighting or where you’re working. Have light sources to your left or right — not directly behind, in front of, or above the photo.
- Many users find natural morning light works best.
- Avoid having direct sunlight on the photo while scanning.
2. Avoid harsh artificial light when possible
- Bright lamps tend to cause glare.
- If you need to use a lamp, use softer light and make sure it does not point directly at the photo.
3. Consider using a photo tent
- A photo tent helps spread and soften the light. This reduces shadows, reflections, and the chance of glare.
4. Be patient - sometimes it takes a little trial and error
- Scanning conditions (light, angle, background) can vary.
- Try a few different setups if the first one doesn’t look good — a small change often fixes glare.
